Maidenhead Pest Control - professional mouse control throughout Maidenhead, Ascot and Windsor.

Maidenhead Pest Control for total control of mice.   Mice are a major problem throughout Maidenhead, Ascot and Windsor as they cause damage and spread disease.

We have found some small black droppings do we have mice?
Mice are prolific poo-ers and will defecate between 40 and 60 times a day, so if you have just a couple of mice getting in it soon looks much worse.

This high level of feaces combined with the urine means that a mouse infestation can cause thousands of pounds of damage to a commercial establishment, food stocks that become contaminated have to be thrown away, premises maybe closed by Environmental Health meaning a loss of earnings as they are unable to trade and the fine that comes on the back of that will be in the thousands of pounds region meaning a massive loss for any business.
What are the signs of a mouse problem?
Obviously the droppings but there will be noise as well, mice are very small but due to their scampering nature they will jump about making quite a racket.

Where they run across bare plasterboard ceilings and they can squeeze through the smallest of gaps, the plasterboard acts like a drumskin amplifying the sounds to those below.

A smell of urine is also associated with mice and they will urinate in one specific place with the urea drying out to form small 'urine pillers'.

Maidenhead Pest Control for mice eradication and permanent prevention

Mice live outside during the summer months and look for shelter when the weather starts to cool, as they can squeeze through a hole the size of your little finger they can potentially access your property through several points.

Like rats we trap mice to determine the access point, we want to get you pest free and to do that we use the mice to show us their access point, we will fill these holes and trap out any remaining mice.

Resorting to the use of rodenticide for mice is pointless as you need to find that access point and seal it up.

How do we know if we've got mice?

Mice can squeeze through the smallest of gaps and can often go unnoticed for a period of time, if you think that you have a mouse problem look out for the following
Droppings
Mice deposit around 40 to 60 times each day meaning that these quickly build up and are easily noticed, be looking of small black oblong droppings between 3mm and 7mm in length. These will be black in colour with pointy ends, a bit like a grain of basmati rice.

Smell
Mice have a distinctive musky smell which will be very strong in confined places like behind the kickboards of kitchen units.

Gnaw marks
Just like rats, mice have front teeth that continue to grow all their life and so all rodents will gnaw on edges whether wooden or plastic and worst of all, electrical cables. Look out for damage and you may sometimes hear the animal working away at something.

Urine pillars
Mice use their urine to mark their territory and as they will mark in exactly the same place, the urea dries out and forms pillars, with the longer running infestations creating higher pillars.

Mouse control in Maidenhead

What type of mouse have we got?

Mice are prevalent in huge numbers especially in the autumn when the cold weather drives them into our houses as they seek the warmth, rural and semi-rural areas like Maidenhead and Holyport will have thousands of mice, shrews and voles infesting properties.

Rodenticide is licensed for use and the two species that you can use rat and mouse poison on are the Norwegian rat and the House mouse, we have put together a guide to the many different types of mice found throughout Maidenhead.

Field mice form the base of the food chain for birds of prey like barn owls and kestrels, when poisoned these mice transfer the rodenticide to these birds, slowly killing them. As an ethical pest control company, we never use rodenticide on field mice and prefer to use humane break back traps. Our tomorrows begin today, for more information on the Campaign for Responsible Rodenticide Use click on the button below.

The most common type of mice that you'll find in Maidenhead are the group of mice known collectively as 'field mice' and these should never be poisoned with rodenticide.

The most effective way to deal with field mice is to exclude them from the property and then trap the remaining individuals = Integrated Pest Management which is exactly how we operate.
